“Rumours” by Fleetwood Mac
Best Tracks: Silver Springs, Gold Dust Woman, Go Your Own Way.
“Silver Springs alone is enough to make this the perfect break-up album. The song is perfectly witchy and bitter. It’s as if she’s sort of making sure that he never forgets her, it’s kind of powerful in a way, I feel like it’s about someone having power over the break-up. The backstory of the album brings the whole album together, their feelings are real and raw.” says LCF student and Beyond Screen EIC, Nicole Colucci.
“Jagged Little Pill” by Alanis Morissette
Best Tracks: Hand In My Pocket, Ironic, You Oughta Know.
“It’s Not Me, It’s You” by Lily Allen
Best Tracks: Not Fair, The Fear, F*ck You.
Music Content Creator Elenora Nishevci comments, “This album is so unashamedly honest, and relatable. This album is relatable to your average, mid-twenties, even teenager, going through the most horrendous break-up and just having enough of it all and saying your piece. Lily Allen is always honest with her writing and I think this is why the girls love her and always will, she really gets it.”
“Sour” by Olivia Rodrigo
Best Tracks: Deja Vu, Traitor, Enough For You.
Student, Anna Hyland says, “I could have really done with that album around 5 years ago when I was going through my first break up!! I now sing along in a happy, healthy relationship but it’s impossible not to. I was secretly happy when I saw Olivia got her heart broken as I knew it would make for another great album!! Special thank you to Zack Bia for GUTS!”
“One Of The Boys” by Katy Perry
Best Tracks: Hot N Cold, I Kissed A Girl, One Of The Boys.
“25” by Adele
Best Tracks: Love In The Dark, Send My Love, Remedy.
“Thank U, Next” by Ariana Grande
Best Tracks: In My Head, Fake Smile, Needy.
“Back To Black” by Amy Winehouse
Best Tracks: Back To Black, Tears Dry On Their Own, To Know Him Is To Love Him.
“Red (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
Best Tracks: All Too Well (Ten-minute version), I Bet You Think About Me, The Lucky One.
LCF student, Ece Angi says, “A lot of iconic songs have come from that album. Like I knew you were trouble, all too well and we’re never getting back together, and my favourite being red from this album. I think it's a good album to sum up break ups as a whole, like you have the upsetting parts, you have the slowly getting over it and realising your worth, and there’s also the partying, recovering from the breakup and partying to 22.”
“Lemonade” by Beyonce
Best Tracks: Sandcastles, All Night, Sorry.
“Beyoncé always seems so fearless, such a strong figure. But she’s so vulnerable on Lemonade, which I think makes it a perfect breakup album. Lemonade says there’s strength in vulnerability, and if Beyoncé can embrace it then you definitely can.” says music writer and LCF student, Luke Seaman.
